Basic Tomato Marinara Sauce
A good versatile tomato sauce is a key part of any recipe collection. You can always add spices to make it for your taste. You can use it for pasta, chicken dishes, pizza sauce and anything else you can think of!
Ingredients:
2- 16 oz cans of peeled san marzano tomatoes
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp garlic
1 Tbsp oregano
1 Tbsp basil
1- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions:
Add the peeled tomatoes into a good size on the stovetop on medium heat. Add the garlic, tomato paste, spaces and stir every so often for about 8 minutes. Lower the heat to a low simmer to enable the tomatoes to breakdown into a sauce. It should take about 35-40 minutes or until the tomatoes have broken apart and all ingredients have combined. Add extra spices as needed. Feel free to freeze portions of the sauce. I used the sauce to make pizza with some additional oregano and basil and it tasted great! Let me know of any variations!
